FIFA World Cup 2014: USA vs. Ghana, United States clinch 2-1 win

The United States of America have won 2-1. Four years after being defeated by Ghana in the Round of 16, USA have found a hero in John Brooks - on his World Cup debut

It was an incredible finish, and the U.S. scraped together three vital points in Group G.

Following the opening-minute goal from Clint Dempsey, the Americans were on the ropes for — seemingly — the rest of the match. It was inevitable, and it happened; Ghana scored the equalizer via Andre Ayew’s 81st-minute blast.

In the end, it was the halftime substitution of John Brooks, who came on in place of Matt Besler and netted the game-winning goal in the 86th minute off of a corner kick.

Result:
USA beats Ghana with 2-1

Goals:
  • 1': Clint Dempsey - for USA
  • 82': AndrĂ© Ayew - for Ghana
