Portugal beat Ghana 2-1, but the result means that both teams have been eliminated from the World Cup.

Portugal and Ghana played a thoroughly entertaining match that perhaps neither team deserved to lose. So, naturally, both lost -- Portugal claimed a 2-1 victory on the day, but the result eliminates each side in Group G.

Portugal finished level on four points with second-place United States in Group G but with an inferior goal difference. Germany topped the group after beating the U.S. 1-0 in Recife.

Portugal beat Ghana, 2-1
